The $450 Panasonic KX-MC6040 is a color laser MFP that prints, scans, copies and faxes. Print speed is 21 pages per minute in both black & white and color, there’s a 3.6″ color LCD, and you can share the printer with a small workgroup via Ethernet. A couple reviews are up online, and the reception is mixed.
Tony Hoffman of PCMag.com gives the Panasonic KX-MC6040 a decent 3 out of 5. He likes the ease of use, solid overall feature set, and 50 sheet ADF. On the other hand, actual print speeds are on the slow side, output quality is below average, there’s no auto-duplexer, and there’s no memory card connectivity.
John Breeden of Government Computer News gives the Panasonic KX-MC6040 a C- for Color Accuracy, C+ for Color Speed, B- for B&W Speed, A for Features, and B- for Value. He likes the feature set and price, which is even more impressive considering the MSRP was apparently $300 higher at the time of the review in September 2009. On the other hand, color accuracy and photo printing are poor, and images are dark.
Overall, the experts appreciate the Panasonic KX-MC6040′s general feature set and reasonable price. But if you’re searching for top-notch performance and speed, you should probably look elsewhere.
